KEEP ON DOING GOOD

“And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward” (Matthew 10:42)

Once a cobbler had a dream that Jesus would come to his shop the next day. As it seemed to be real to him, he waited happily for Jesus’ arrival. A poor old man came to his shop and asked if he could sit in his shop for sometime, as it was very cold outside. The cobbler made him sit and noticed his torn off shoes. He gave him a pair of new shoes and the old man went away happily. Then a very weak woman with a child stood before his shop and asked for some food. The cobbler gave her good food, her eyes brightened and she thanked him for his kindness. Then, in the evening, he saw a little boy crying as he had lost his way to his home. The cobbler gave him some sweets and took him to his house. The cobbler was quite disappointed as Jesus didn’t come. He looked up and cried, “My Lord! Jesus, why didn’t you come to my shop?” Jesus replied that He visited his shop thrice and applauded him for his unselfish services to the needy people. At that time he remembered what Jesus said, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40). How much we love God, can be measured by how well we treat others. God notices every good deed we do or don’t do.

“Dear Lord, You expect our personal involvement in caring for others. Let us be kind and do good deeds to those we encounter today. In Jesus’ Name I pray” –Amen.
